Prof. Stefano Maci, full professor of Electromagnetics at the University of Siena and Scientific Advisor of Wave Up, was nominated President Elect of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society for 2022 and he will serve as President for 2023. The IEEE AP-S is the most prestigious international society on antennas, propagation and applied electromagnetics and has about ten thousand members. The AP-S runs the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation (impact factor 4.388) and is the best-known magazine in the field. (more in Italian).

Wave Up and its team members have been awarded the ESA-funded project "Mechanical Scanning Based Low-Profile Ground User Terminals" as a Prime Contractor.

Wave Up will be presenting its latest results on electronically scanning metasurface antennas at the European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP) 2021, held on 22-26 March 2021 (conference website).

Wave Up has been awarded the ESA-funded project "MetaSense: Metasurface-based Scanning Sensor" for manufacturing a proof-of-concept prototype of beam scanning sensor at 76 GHz based on metasurfaces.

Our paper on "Experimental Validation of Very High Gain Antennas Based on Modulated Metasurfaces" won the Best Poster Award at the Metamaterials Congress 2019, in Rome, Italy. The paper, authored by Enrica Martini, Gabriele Minatti, Francesco Caminita, Cristian Della Giovampaola and Stefano Maci, is the result of the joint collaboration between Wave Up and the Applied Electromagnetics Lab at the University of Siena.

Wave Up and its team members have been awarded the ESA-funded project "Antenna user terminal with Wide Angle Impedance Matching (WAIM) metamaterial radome".

Wave Up and its team members have been awarded the ESA-funded project "Outdoor unit (ODU) for SatCom next generation non-geo satellites".

Our latest prototype for ground-to-satellite communication showed a measured gain of 40 dBi and a directivity of 41.2 dBi in the Ka band (30 GHz). Beside that, its pattern satisfies the mask requirements defined by the service provider. The antenna has a diameter of 50 cm and a thickness of just less than 10 mm, including the support. Wave Up will be presenting its latest results on metasurface antennas at the 39th ESA Antenna Workshop, on 2-5 October 2018, at ESA-ESTEC, The Netherlands (Workshop link).

Wave Up team will attend the European Microwave Week 2018 in Madrid, Spain, on 23-28 September, where Dr. Enrica Martini will have a speech in the "Metamaterials, Metasurfaces and Applications" workshop.

Dr. Enrica Martini, Dr. Francesco Caminita, Dr. Gabriele Minatti, Prof. Stefano Maci and their co-authors have been awarded the IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society Sergei A. Schelkunoff Transactions Prize Paper Award with the paper "Modulated Metasurface Antennas for Space: Synthesis, Analysis and Realizations". The Schelkunoff Transactions Prize Paper Award is given to the authors of the best paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation during the previous year. The award will be presented at the 2016 IEEE AP-S/URSI Conference in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, during the award ceremony on Wednesday June 29, 2016. More information can be found here.

Prof. Stefano Maci has been awarded the 2016 IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator Award "for extraordinary impact in high-level education in the Antennas and Propagation community through the European School of Antennas".
